Christmas In September!

The statement "Christmas In September" is enough to put the spooks up anybody, but in recent times the recession has affected many of us meaning lots of people are doing their Christmas shopping throughout the year, allowing them to spread the cost of Christmas. Here at USD we believe that the early bird really does catch the worm. From October we will be launching our Christmas shop on our website. Items will be added regularly and throughout the month of October 'Early Bird' offers will be available on ALL products in our Christmas section, so those of you that shop early will save on your christmas gifts and decorations.

Here you will see just a few of the items that will soon be available to purchase online.

The snowflakes seen here, unfortunately, can only be purchased as individual decorations. The snowflakes that we will be introducing to our website will be available to purchase as individual decorations or as sets. If you do not see exactly what you like or would like the snowflakes in a particular colour or design, please do not hesitate to contact us where will be able to work closely with you to design your dream decoration. We did it, we survived the summer!!

As a parent myself, I look forward to the end of the summer term and welcome the prospect of spending quality time with the family, but one drawback of this is the limited time it gives me to work on creating gorgeous new items for you.

As the summer has wound down and come to a close, I have finally been able to put some of my designs and ideas into practice. Here is just a preview of some of the fantastic new items that will be available on the website very soon.

Competition Winner!!

Our new back to school collection of accessories is very nearly at it's launch date and to celebrate the new range we recently ran a competition.

Back to School Collection

Here at Urban Sophistication Designs we have been busy working on our new back to school collection. If like me your fed up with your child coming home with the wrong book bag, backpack, instrument or even uniform then this is for you.

Each item is designed to be attached to your child's belongings making it easily identifiable to your child and whats more as no two pieces are the same, you can be sure your child will always have a unique item. All items in this range can be personalised with your child's name, initials, school details or anything else for that matter. The back to school collection will include zipper pulls, keyrings, book bag markers, backpack ribbons and instrument case markers.

Whilst we are excited to be launching this new range very soon, we also have a dilemma. Here at USD we are struggling to come up with a name for our new collection which is where you guys come in.

We are launching a competition to come up with a name for our new collection. Everyone is invited to come up with a name for our collection. The winning entry will be the one picked for our new range and the winner will receive a complete set from the collection, personalised if they so wish.

The Wonders of Modern Technology

Now, I've never been the type to understand the ins and outs of modern technology. I'm more the kind of gal who knows what I need to know to get me by and just a bit more but even I have to marvel at the wonders of modern technology.
I used to dread the school holidays,armed with my pen and notepad I would always aim to do as much work as I could whilst keeping an eye on the kids in the park, at the beach, softplay etc but even then with emails to reply to, a website to monitor, sales to process, stock to purchase and everything else there was always a limit to what I could do.
The last mobile phone I had was brilliant, it alerted me to all my emails, twitter notifications facebook updates amongst other things. So when my upgrade was due I told the salesperson that I wanted something that could do all the things my previous mobile had done and maybe a few new 'teicks'. His suggestion sounded more like another laptop than a mobile phone!! I chose to take his advice and eagerly awaited the arrival of my new phone. When the phone arrived the first thing I did was link it to my email and twitter accounts and facebook business page. After a few days I was amazed with all the things I discovered my phone could do;it automatically remembered the people that I regularly called and texted, it recognised a link between my work email account, my twitter and facebook accounts and would suggest that they hadn't been updated in a while and what really blew me away was the reminders that could be set in conjunction with my website like items on sale, when offers should end etc. By far the two most impressive functions have been producing word documents and using my phone as a wireless wifi hotspot making it possible for me to connect my laptop to my phone's wifi and work virtually anywhere using the internet.
So now USD can operate from any location around the UK at any time!
Whilst I will never fully understand all the marvelous things my mobile can do or the ins and outs of modern technology and the information super highway, I am grateful that I can compute the day away and write this post while travelling up the A2 on our way back home after a day spent working on the sandy beach of Margate, thanks to the wonders of modern technology!

A Quick Update

Well it feels like ages since we last met. Although it may seem that not a lot has been going on, behind the scenes I have been extremely busy working on links with local retail outlets, securing stalls at trade shows not to mention working on lots of new pieces and collections.

I am extremely pleased to report that Urban Sophistication Designs has gone global with a large bridal order placed from America. I am tremendously excited to have been chosen for this job and have started working on constructing the pieces that will be shipped next month.

As requests and queries for bridal jewellery and wedding gifts have increased I have decided to attend a few local wedding fairs and am looking forward to hopefully new business opportunities.

We're Back!

The Caribbean Collection

Now with a title like that it's got to warm you up!
For a few months now I have been working on something called 'The Caribbean Collection'. The collection consists of a series of editions, each one specific to an island in the Caribbean. Each edition includes bracelets, necklaces, earrings, keyrings and more all colour co-ordinated with the colours of a particular island's flag.
The first edition of the collection I would like to show you is the 'Trinidad and Tobago ' Edition. This comes at the right time as Trinidad and Tobago will be holding their annual carnival next Monday, so very fitting.

Although, this particular collection centres around the Caribbean I can adapt these to any other country/continent if requested. Very Nearly There!

Happy New Year

First things first...Happy New Year to one and all!

I hope you enjoyed a very happy and pleasant festive period.
Here at Urban Sophistication Designs there hasn't been very much rest, it has been all systems go. One of the biggest changes you may have noticed is that when talking about the business we have been using the term USD. Don't panic we haven't changed we have just shortened the name and taken the first letter of each word from the company name. As from April 2011 instead of having to type a ridiculously long URL into your address bar it will simply be USD although all other aspects of Urban Sophistication Designs will remain unchanged.

While most of you have probably been enjoying a few days off work, a few too many chocolates and the odd (!!) glass of mulled wine, I have been a very busy bee designing and working an a range of new collections. These collections include men's jewellery, new children's ranges, fab new accessories and stunning new pieces. All of these will be coming very soon, so watch this space.
